Robert de Visée Suite in D-minor

 9,00

Robert de Visée (ca. 1655-1732) was occupied as a guitarist and composer at the court of Louis XIV in Versailles. He is known as one of the most brilliant composers of the seventeenth and eightheenth century for the guitar, which at the time was fitted with five strings. His music, not only that for guitar but also for theorbo and lute, mainly consists of dances and suites.

The suite in D minor, in this case adapted by Eugène den Hoed, was originally part of “Livre de pièces  pour la guitare” (1686). In each of the nine pieces of this suite the repeats, according to baroque custom, have been written out in variations by the adaptor.
